Okay corporate dude. Let’s try to reach some understanding here. We know you get paid to have “meetings.” I know this world. Heck! I came OUT of this world. But we need to come to some conclusion on this. Graphic designers (especially those of us who are “cowboys”) don’t usually bill for meetings. We accommodate them. We know you have to have them. To us, however, these are a colossal waste of time for the most part. Oh sure, there are times we get something out of a meeting but those moments are few and far between. When I worked in “the world,” I found this interesting—I spent more time reporting on graphic design than I did doing graphic design. And this, usually for a supervisor or manager who didn’t understand my job in the first place. That’s fine, mind you—I don’t expect everyone to be a “creative” but you could quickly see a tipping point on the horizon. The designer does something. They produce an actual product (whether intellectual or digital). If I’m not making the product but talking with you about the product, this thing isn’t getting done. So please... I’m begging you... for everyone’s sake... keep those meetings to a minimum. I really don’t mind talking about my designs and ideas but at the end of the day, I don’t get paid to do that. That’s a luxury. ![]() |
